Chamber hosting HHF Sept. 19-20

The Dublin Chamber of Commerce’s fifth annual Hispanic Heritage Festival is quickly approaching and the 2-day event is still seeking vendors.

“We are really excited to be able to offer a 2-day event this year,” Chamber President Nancy Williams said. Admission to the festival is free.

Vendor rates for Saturday only are $50 ($75 with electricity) or $75 for Friday and Saturday (with electricity $100).

The Hispanic Heritage Festival will kick off Friday, Sept. 19 at 5 p.m. with a rodeo in the Dublin City Park arena.

The event will include calf ribbon, bull riders, wild team roping and more.

During the rodeo, vendors will be selling drinks, food and more.

Following the rodeo, there will be a dance in the arena with a DJ.

Admission to the rodeo is $10 for adults, and 13 and under are free.

To sign up for the rodeo, text 254-977-2206. The deadline to register for the rodeo is Sept. 15. Entry fee for the bull riding is $50 and $60 for wild team roping.

On Saturday, Sept. 20, the festival continues with a variety of events at City Park from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Starting at 11 a.m., vendors will open at the park.

At 1 p.m. there will be a live remote with Radio 1510.

The Trail Ride will be departing 26025 South FM 219 and travel to the City Park. The ride is expected to last for 4-6 hours.

At 1:30 p.m. there will be a performance by Javier Martinez.

At 3 p.m. the Hispanic Festival Pageants will take place including a baby (4 and under) and senior citizen (55 and up) pageant.

Participants are encouraged to wear their best cultural swag for the pageant and embrace Hispanic heritage.

Entry fee for the pageant is $50 and cash prizes will be awarded.

Festivities will continue at 4:30 p.m. with live music by J=Yepez and at 6 p.m. the Escaramuzas Horse Show will take place while J=Yepez continues performing.

At 7 p.m. Sol de Cumbia from Fort Worth will perform and the closing show at 8:30 p.m. will be Ritmo y Sabor from Odessa.

Throughout the day, there will be cow patty bingo, bounce houses, a photo booth, water slide, vendors, crafts, food and more.

The chamber is expecting more than 50 vendors to take part in this year’s event.

“Our sponsorship has been amazing this year so far and the community is really coming together to help us honor Hispanic heritage,” Williams said. “It’s great that everyone is working together.”
