July 4th safety Those who are purchasing their own fireworks this year are reminded it is illegal to set off fireworks inside the city limits of both Dublin and Stephenville, as well as alongside TxDOT roadways.
“We hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July. City ordinances are in place to preserve the peace and quality of life, therefore they will be enforced,” Dublin Police Chief Cameron Ray said.
Fireworks are fun but can also be dangerous. Follow these helpful tips released by DPS: Use fireworks outdoors in a clear area away from buildings and flammable materials.
Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby in case of an emergency.
Never allow young children to handle fireworks; supervise older children closely.
Light one firework at a time and never relight a “dud” firework.
Dispose of used fireworks by soaking them in water before discarding them.
“Fireworks are prohibited inside the city limits of Stephenville. We will be out in force helping keep everyone safe and enforcing our city ordinance. Please join us for a safe and Happy 4th of July Celebration at the Stephenville City Park. A professional fireworks display will take place at approximately 9:30 p.m.,” Stephenville Police Chief Dan Harris said.
