Lone Star Iris Society meets Saturday

The Lone Star Iris Society will meet June 4th, 12:00 noon at the Hico Community Center at 102 N Railroad, Hico, Texas. Our program will be about the AIS Dykes Medal brought to us by our member Dr. Pug Parris. William Rickatson Dykes lived only 48 years, but the creation of an iris award to honor his memory has lasted almost a century. The purpose of this program will be to provide an overview of the life of W.R. Dykes, to explore the history of the Dykes Medal with emphasis on the American awards, and to provide a photographic sequence of the DM winners dating back to 1927. There is no charge to attend this meeting. Visitors are welcome and refreshments will be served.
