Peanut Program and Walk Across Texas
The Comanche County AgriLife Extension office will be holding a peanut meeting for growers on Thursday, March 6th at 12:00 PM at the De Leon City Auditorium. We will be discussing results from peanut variety trials and other management factors that may be of importance to producers this coming year. We will have State Peanut Specialist Emi Kimura and the State Peanut Breeder John Cason speaking. We will also have Dr. Luis Ribera, Extension Economist discussing “Peanut Opportunities and the Economic Outlook for Peanut Production.”
The crop outlook is not the best, and while peanuts are not the crop they used to be, they may be one of the better options for this year. This will be a very interesting program, with some excellent topics, specialists, and a great lunch to boot. We will be offering 1 IPM CEU for the event and there is no charge to attend. Please call the office at (325)-356-2539 to pre-register if you are interested in this program.
Walk Across Texas Just in time for the warm weather, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension office in Comanche County will host a Walk Across Texas program from March 10 through May 4th. You can walk together, individually, outside, at a mall, at a grocery store, or at a gym whatever fits your schedule and lifestyle. Keep track of your team’s miles to see if together you can go the equivalent of the 832 miles it would take to walk across Texas in eight weeks. Anyone can participate! Bring your family, friends, neighbors, pets, coworkers, and classmates. Teams consist of 8 people and will need a Team Captain to set up their team. To register for the eight‐week program, team captains will need to use the League Code: watL-25020360861 at www.howdyhealth. org. Once the team captain has their team set up, individuals can go in and registerundertheirrespective teams.
