Crook Neck Squash or Straight Neck Squash?
Last year I grew crook neck yellow squash, and they were loaded with plump fruit. I picked them for supper one night, but their skins were so tough that I could not eat them. What did I do wrong?
Crook neck squash have a natural tougher, thicker skin than straight neck squash. Remember to pick them when the skin is still shiny and light yellow, and they are no longer than six inches. You can also slice off the skin and this will help for tenderness.
