The month of April has special meaning for Texans. It’s when many groups - like Adopt-a-Highway and Keep Texas Beautiful affiliates - participate in the statewide “Don’t mess with Texas Trash-Off.”
The local partner, Keep Dublin Beautiful, is asking for volunteers to trade part of their Saturday in exchange for a cleaner home.
KDB President Pam Simon reported that volunteers will once again be gathering at Golden Chick at 8 a.m., where they will receive vests and trash bags to collect litter.
Afterwards, volunteers will break into groups and travel to the areas adopted by KDB on each side of Dublin on Highway 6 and Highway 377.

This weekend marks the beginning of a month of cleanup around the state as cleanup events are being held all month instead of just one day to work around inclimate weather in certain parts of the state.
The annual event, stated in 1986, highlights how many people doing a little can help a lot as volunteers last year collect more than a million pounds of litter around the state.
