Elks Lodge to host free youth fishing day 

The Stephenville Area Elks Lodge will be hosting a free Youth Fishing and Water Safety Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 at Copperas Creek at Lake Proctor.

The event is open to kids ages 8-13 and a water safety program will be provided by the Army Corps of Engineers.

Lone Star Firework Festival set Oct. 11 

Lone Star Fireworks Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 11 at Stasey Field at Chalk Mountain.

The event will include pyromusical fireworks, flame effects, drone shows, music, food and fun.

All proceeds benefit the Foster's Home for Children in Stephenville. The festival is at 4137 CR 196 in Bluff Dale (off Hwy. 67 between Stephenville and Glen Rose).

Tarleton to offer ice skating this weekend at EECU
The EECU Center at Tarleton State University is proud to announce a first for Stephenville, a public ice skating event at the new EECU Center Friday, Oct. 10 and Saturday, Oct. 11. 
This state-of-the-art facility is one of the latest additions to Tarleton State’s campus, serving as a premier venue for concerts, conferences, community events and athletics. The arena floor will be transformed into a synthetic ice rink, welcoming the community, students, faculty and staff to enjoy this exclusive event.

Nature Fest set for Saturday, Oct. 11
Nature Fest is a free, family-friendly celebration of Texas nature — full of hands-on fun, outdoor learning, and community connection. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 at Bosque River Nature Center located at 735 E. Long St.
From hands-on science like fossils, insects, and microscopes to outdoor adventures with animal tracks, reptiles, and nature walks, there’s something for every curious explorer. You’ll also meet incredible partners including Texas Parks & Wildlife, Fossil Rim, Ranger College, Tarleton Entomological Society, Bat World Cross Timbers, the Texas Bluebird Society, and more.
Every family will receive a swag bag with nature goodies to take home. There's something for everyone ... whether you are chatting with biologists, doing a craft, taking a guided nature walk or just enjoying the outdoors, Nature Fest is designed to inspire.

DeLeon to host 70s class reunion this Saturday
A one-time reunion for all De Leon High School alumni from the classes of 1970-79, celebrating friendships, memories, milestones and military service from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11.
Doors will remain open until 5 p.m. 
The reunion is open to all former students, teachers, and administrators from the classes of 1970-79, along with a guest. No RSVP required.
This is a one-time event, separate from the annual DHS Ex-Students Association Reunion traditionally held during the Peach and Melon Festival.

Genealogical Society to host free workshop Friday, Oct. 17
The Erath County Genealogical Society will host a free Genealogy Workshop at the Dublin Public Library from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17. 
Topics include Beginning Your Family History; Using Collateral Research; Following Civil Court Case Documents; Productive Research Road Trips; A Guide to Writing; and AI as Your Genealogy Assistant. Come and go if needed, attend all or part day, attendees should bring their own lunch. Door prizes and drinks will be provided. Either virtual or in-person attendance is at no cost, but attendees must register.

15th annual Spirits of Erath Cemetery Walk set Nov. 2
The 15th annual Spirits of Erath Cemetery Walk will be held at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2 at the West End Cemetery.
Donations are $10 each for the performance.
The walk features the following local legendary characters: "Old Man" F.M. Snow, Rich Fagan, Betty Grant, Hogan Family and "The Spirit of the Road."
Spirits of Erath is a joint fundraiser for The Friends of the Dick Smith Library and The Stephenville Historical House Museum.

Harris' Old West Pumpkin Patch open this weekend 

The Harris' Old West Pumpkin Patch will be open every weekend from 8 a.m. until dark located at 1129 CR 304 in Dublin.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids which includes wagon rides, games, concessions, photo opportunities and live music every weekend. A wide assortment of pumpkins are available for purchase.
