Tragedy struck Friday morning when a two vehicle accident on FM 8 (west of Stephenville) resulted in the death of Mayra Chacon. 46, of Stephenville.
According to a preliminary report by Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2005 Chrysler Sebring, driven by 18-year-old Javier Ponce, of Stephenville, was traveling west on FM 8 at approximately 6:23 a.m. when it traveled into the eastbound lane for an undetermined reason.
DPS reported it was then that the vehicle struck a 2011 BMW, being driven by Chacon, head-on. The reports stated the collision killed the driver. Ponce was transported to a Fort Worth area hospital for undisclosed injuries.
The crash remains under investigation and no additional information is available.
