The Dublin Band program had great success from 6th grade all the way through seniors at this year’s UIL Solo and Ensemble Competition.
Nine DHS high school students, pictured left, are advancing to state with their solos and ensembles.
The following students also placed at contest: Superior rating on a class II solo Freshman Ashton Munoz. Two students received an excellent rating on a Class I solo: Junior Jennave Villaro and Senior Yovany Ortiz. Freshman Mia Mason earned an excellent rating on a Class II solo and Junior Sampson Scott received an excellent rating on a Class III solo.
Every junior high student earned a superior rating including: 8th grader Criselda Ponce, 8th grader James Hyatt, 8th grader Analeah Ortega, 8th grader Ariana Cormack and 7th grader Jacob Parsons.
The district’s only competing 6th grader Branson Ivie also earned a superior rating.
“Our band students make it incredibly easy to brag about them because they amaze us every time we attend a contest,” Band Director Cathryn Smith said. “Their outstanding behavior, passion, and willingness to take on new and challenging pieces are truly phenomenal.”
