Reunion, stampede this Saturday

This weekend brings the return of the annual Irish Stampede and all-class reunion, offering a chance for happy feet and faces.

The Dublin Irish Stampede 10K-5K-2K Run, hosted by the Dublin Lions Club, will kick off at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, June 14 by the Dublin Public Library.

Participation in either the 10K or 5K runs are $30 and $20 for the 2K run. The run is being held in conjunction with Dublin’s celebration of National Dairy Month.

On race day, registration is from 6 – 7:15 a.m. beside the Dublin Public Library with the 10K/5K starting at 7:30 a.m. followed by the 2K start.

Early packet pick up will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 7 at Dublin Public Library.

Cash prizes and awards will be available for the top three (both male and female) overall winners. Age groups are 15 and under, 16-19, 2029, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 6069, 70 and over.

Proceeds will go to support the activities of the Dublin Lions Club throughout the coming year.

Examples of how the Lions Club helps include sending physically challenged and diabetic children to a free, week-long Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, providing an Ice Cream Float Party for over 450 kids at camp, and working with elementary students to reveal undetected eye problems.

Afterwards, people can cool off with good friends and fellowship in the annual Hearts & Home Dublin Area Reunion, hosted by the Dublin Historical Society. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Station Community Building located on North Patrick between Dairy Queen and First National Bank.

Everyone is welcome at the event regardless of being a resident, native or someone who just loves Dublin.

Guests and residents are also encourage to explore Dublin’s businesses and restaurants as well as its museums, The Ben Hogan Museum, The Dublin Rodeo Heritage Museum and the Dublin Historical Museum, which will have a special exhibition of work by local quilters starting June 13 and continuing through the June 14 events.
