Registration is open for the fifth annual Cross Timbers Classic hosted by Cross Timbers Family Services set Friday, June 27 at Squaw Valley in Glen Rose.

Proceeds from the charity golf scramble go to helping CTFS and its partner agencies in supporting and providing services for victims of violent crimes.

“This is where we raise our money for direct assistance,” said CTFS executive director Laura Gambino, who added that family violence statistics have increased recently. “We’re trying to grow our connections in how we reach out to clients.”

Funds raised from this event aid victims of violent crime in a variety of ways from meals to transportation to getting a temporary place to stay. Gambino said the support also helps with specialized needs that crop up. As an example, CTFS was able to help a human trafficking victim get transportation home to their family thanks to the organization’s support.

Golfers have a chance to have fun while supporting these vital needs.

Entry is $500 per 4-man team or $130 per team. Cash prizes will be available to the top teams, closest to the pin and longest drive.

The event will also feature a catered breakfast and lunch as well as a silent auction where guests can buy raffle tickets and place them in for their favorite donated items.

Gambino said she is grateful to the event’s sponsors including major sponsors Texas Health Resources and AgTrust Farm Credit. She is also appreciative to Squaw Valley for their partnership with the event.
