The Dublin Chamber of Commerce announced several exciting contests and activities set for Halloween in Dublin!
Decorate for Halloween and Win
Let’s start with the decorating contest. Want to enter your home, business, church or non-profit in the decorating contest? The Chamber of Commerce will award two prizes: the People’s Choice and the Judges’ Choice.
To enter, contact the Chamber at chamberdirector@dublintxchamber.com or 254/300-6263 by Oct. 26. We will take a photo of your decorations, and put them on our Facebook Chamber page, requesting visitors to "like" their favorites. The entry with the most "likes" by noon, Oct. 29 will be the People’s Choice recipient.
The Judges’ Choice will be selected by the Chamber Board of Directors from the photos. Both trophies will be awarded at the Safe Trick or Treating event on Oct. 29, in downtown Dublin, at 6:30 p.m.
Safe Trick or Treating to Expand this Year
Local businesses are again encouraged to decorate and open their doors to little princesses and goblins (and their parents and grandparents) between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 29. Dublin Lions’ Club members will assist with crossing streets safely.
New this year, local businesses that are not located downtown may bring their offerings and fearsome decor to the "Haunted Hogan’s Alley." Each business may set up a booth or auto, decorate as desired, and provide treats. One such business, new Chamber member Texan Guns and Gear, can be found by following the dinosaur tracks down the Alley. They have promised goodies for the kids, and a raffle for a $100 shopping spree for the adults. That means it’s definitely time to discover some dinosaurs!
As in past years, many downtown merchants will wear their own costumes to maximize the fun. Come check us out at the Chamber Welcome Center at 110 S. Patrick. We are looking forward to scaring the socks off ‘ya!
Enter the Costume Contest … for People and Pets
The Dublin Citizen and the Dublin Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the costume contest. Four prizes will be awarded: Best Children’s Costume, Best Adult’s Costume, Best Group or Pair Costume, and Best Pet’s Costume. Winners will receive $25 each in Dublin Dollars, redeemable at any participating Dublin Chamber member.
Local Haunted Hayride and Hocus Pocus Escape Room
Local entrepreneurs will be offering residents rides on the Haunted Hayride or the chance to participate in the Hocus Pocus Escape Room. Both will take place Friday and Saturday, Oct. 29 and 30 from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit https://dublinhauntedhayride.wixsite.com/website. Space is limited.
