A total of 294 Erath County voters cast their ballot in the first day of early voting May 7 general elections Monday. There were 250 cast in Stephenville where voters are deciding on city and school board candidates and a $75 million Stephenville ISD bond and 44 in Dublin, where voters are facing contested races for three Dublin ISD School Board positions.
Early voting is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday at the Patrick Street Church of Christ and the Erath County Courthouse. The polls will also be open at both locations from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 2-May 3.
The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day at both locations as well as the AgriLife Extension Center (1229 N. US Hwy 281, Stephenville) and Texas Bank (988 Wolfe Rursery Rd., Stephenville).
In the Dublin ISD School Board races, Challenger Dewayne Kolb is facing incumbent Bob Cervetto for an unexpired term while Incumbents Pat Leatherwood and Anjelica Salyer and challenger John Shipman are running for two full terms. Tara Caldera is also running for one of the full terms as a write-in candidate.
Voters will be voting yes or no to the following amendments:
Proposition 1 (SJR 2 - 87th Legislature, 2nd Special Session)
“The constitutional amendment authorizing the legislature to provide for the reduction of the amount of a limitation on the total amount of ad valorem taxes that may be imposed for general elementary and secondary public school purposes on the residence homestead of a person who is elderly or disabled to reflect any statutory reduction from the preceding tax year in the maximum compressed rate of the maintenance and operations taxes imposed for those purposes on the homestead.”
