The Dublin Economic Development Corporation has been hard at work revamping one of their grants, now known as the Commercial Building Facade and Infrastructure Grant.
The grant revision was approved by the EDC board Tuesday, June 24.
For this grant, the business must be inside the city limits or in the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction (approximately ½ mile outside the city limits).
The DEDC will fund 75% of a project up to $7,500. A business, identifiable by its 9-1-1 address, may receive only one grant per year.
The funds must be used only for improvements listed below, except for rare exceptions.
Complete Façade Rehabilitation
■ Replacement of Broken Window Panes, window frames, broken storefront glass and doors.
■ Scraping, priming and painting of window frames, doors, cornice and store front
■ Exterior treatments such brick, tile, stucco, stone, wood, or siding
■ Attached signage and brackets
■ Removal of slipcovers or other covers to expose original materials
■ Cleaning of exterior by appropriate methods to include power washing or tile cleaning
■ Exterior lighting fixtures (attached to building)
■ Canopies or window awnings
■ Attached gutters or down spouts
■ Restoration of historic or significant architectural features
■ Roof repair (when in conjunction with other improvements) A detailed business plan including a business description, mission and vision, a financial plan and a growth plan must be submitted with the grant application.
Applicants must also submit copies of all professionally prepared receipts and invoices, photographs of before and after completion of the project, a commitment to maintenance. The use of local contractors is encouraged.
If a business owner is leasing space they must include a copy of the signed lease agreement and a signed letter from the property owner approving eligible improvements.
“We’re very happy with the way this turned out,” EDC Executive Director Noah Cullis said after the meeting.
The EDC will continue to offer community improvement grants (up to $2,500, with an 80/20 match), community improvement grant – event marketing event expansion (up to 50% of the cost up to $1,500) and community improvement grantevent marketing (75% of marketing expenses up to $2,500 for a new event).
The EDC also does a single family housing grant for site built homes in the city limits or ETJ. DEDC will pay up to $2,500 per approved application.
The EDC is also working towards a new website and approved a community marketing grant for National Day of the Cowboy.
