Are you ready to go back to school? The Dublin Public Library and numerous nonprofits are partnering together this Saturday to make sure all Back-to School needs are fulfilled.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 26 the lawn at the Dublin Public Library will be transformed into a haven of benefits with sprinkles of fun.

This year’s event will be filled with free give-a-ways including backpacks, toiletry items, underwear and socks, as well as free haircuts.

School supplies will only be provided on a very limited basis since Dublin ISD is providing supplies for all grade levels.

Over the past several months area churches have been hosting collection drives for hygiene items aiding the library in the process and helping both parents and students.

“We are grateful to local churches for providing toiletries,” Library Director Adina Dunn said.

Churches include Cottonwood Baptist, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Highland Avenue Congressional Methodist, First Methodist Church of Dublin, Greens Creek Baptist, Highland Baptist Church, Greens Creek Methodist and First Baptist Church of Dublin.

Children must be present for give-a-ways and supplies are limited.

A foam pile, hot dogs from the Lions Club and ice cream from Dublin DQ will be served.

Free haircuts will start at 8:30 a.m. and those wanting one will need to have clean hair and dry clothes. Haircuts need to be completed before kids play in the foam.

A variety of businesses and nonprofits have provided either funds, donated items or time for the event including 50 Women Strong, Stephenville Area Elks Lodge, Boucher & Smart, Serenity House Impact Youth Prevention, CASA, Waste Connection, Dublin Woman’s Thursday Club, All About You Spa & Salon, Shear Heaven, Dublin Dairy Queen and Dublin Lions Club, IAA Bookkeeping & Tax Services.

Library staff would ask everyone who is playing in the foam to conduct library business inside before getting wet, and reminds patrons no food or drinks are permitted inside the building.
