Dublin decides to continue masks

Body

Dublin ISD has decided to continue requiring all students and staff to wear facemasks for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. The decision followed gathering input from the school administration, medical response team and looking into the decisions of neighboring school districts.

Dublin ISD made the announcement in the following letter provided to parents this week:

The Texas Education Agency has published guidance for schools to follow after the Governor’s Executive Order GA-34. Following TEA’s guidance, Dublin ISD will continue its current practice of requiring all students and staff members to wear face coverings for the remainder of the school year.

We all desire to return to normal, but the safety of our staff and students will remain the priority in our school district.

Additionally, the proper use of face coverings is a mitigating factor in determining the definition of “close contact” during contact tracing, per TEA guidelines. Therefore, it reduces the likelihood of having to quarantine large groups of students at one time. Dublin ISD is striving to provide a safe learning environment for all students and staff, while also keeping our campuses open for the remainder of the year.

We hope all of our students, families, and staff have had a restful Spring Break and we look forward to finishing the last eight weeks of the school year on a positive note.
