The Dublin Chamber of Commerce is getting the community into the Halloween and fall spirit with several activities staged for the weekend of Oct. 31 including safe trick or treat, a drive-in circus at the Dublin City Park and a youth rodeo on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.

Dublin Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ellisa Tiscareno advised that the Chamber City and Lions Club have been organizing an extra safe Trick or Treat this year so it can be held to coincide with social distancing guidelines. Those not wearing a festive mask will need to wear a protective facemask and chalk arrows will mark the trick or treat route downtown as it is held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 30. Parents and kids will be able to walk into the route on any location, but will have to follow the path.

A costume contest will be held at the Corner Lot from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. with winners to be announced later. Winners will be eligible for a Dublin Dollars prize package.

The Dublin Masonic Lodge on Elm Street will be hosting their annual Halloween treats and activities for kids from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The Chamber is also partnering with Cody McClinton to expand the junior rodeo set for the Dublin City Park Arena on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 10 a.m. by adding a providing some food trucks that want a day of western fun on Halloween.

Competitions in the youth rodeo starting at 10 a.m. (book are at 9 a.m.) are separated into five categories from 6 and under to ages 16-19. The event will also feature a costume contest and family fun.

The food trucks will also be at the park on Nov. 1 for an appearance by the dancing horses at the rodeo arena, which is accompanying a separate steers and bulls rodeo starting at 1 p.m. in honor of Dia De Los Muertos. That event will also include free style bull fighting.

Halloween fun actually starts at the City Park on Thursday with the appearance of a live Drive-In Circus that will be set up at the park, presenting seven shows from Thursday, Oct. 29 through Monday, Nov. 2.

The organizers have been featured on “America’s Got Talent” with their dancing poodles and the show will also feature motocross, acrobats, jugglers and a magician.

“It’s got everything of the average circus minus exotic animals,” Tiscareno said.

Spectators can attend for $35 per car load or bring a lawn chair for up-front seating although space is limited and tickets are going fast for the seven showings. Those wishing to attend are encouraged to purchase tickets at driveincircuslive.com.
