Code Enforcement says thanks for Dublin Clean-Up help

Dublin Code Enforcement Keith Riley wished to thank all of the people who assisted in the June 4 Clean-Up event. The event drew 35 citizens and city workers to assist as two and a half trash trucks were filled with unneeded items being disposed of by Dublin residents.

Dear Editor: This country is heading into third world status! I hate to be an alarmist, but I’m stealing a page out of the green agenda playbook! The continued reliance on renewables, wind, solar and batteries will put us all in the poor house!

I smell a skunked term (Grammar Guy) Have you ever crossed paths with a skunk? I once chased an armadillo down a dark country road, but that’s a story for another day. While I’ve never come nose-to-tail with a skunk, I’ve taken notice where one has raised a stink, so to speak.

It was in May of 1919 that Mayor Sheehan started taking an interest in paving the streets of Dublin. He had taken trips to Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and Cisco. While there, he talked to city commissioners about the benefits and the problems of paving city streets.

With summer arriving, I have a lot of reasons to be excited, but the main thing that makes me happy is the addition of Wyndi Veigel to the Citizen staff. (See story on page A1.) Regular readers of my column may notice that she shares the same spelling as my girlfriend. That’s not a coincidence.

Do you have a favorite shape? Many people prefer the infinite loop of a circle. Others find triangles to be a cute shape. Me? I like squares. There’s just something about four 90-degree angles with four lines of the same length. It’s symmetrical poetry. Today I’m tackling “square” phrases.
