Dear Editor:
(Editor’s note: DHS graduate and Stephenville native wanted to share some of his songwriting with his hometown so he submitted the following for print.)
I started writing lyrics eight years ago. After about four months, I started sending lyrics to my family. It wasn’t long before I was sending lyrics to America, Canada, Mexico, Israel and Europe. I send everything for free.
I hope everybody enjoys my lyrics.
A Little Girl
She was just a little girl.
Maybe two, maybe three.
She lived in the greatest land-
Home of the free.
Her life stood ahead of her
With promises from her family.
Then one horrible night:
Shots rang out in the community.
The family did not see
Where the shots came from;
All they saw was their little girl
On the way to eternity.
Why must this keep happening
In the land of the free?
Jesus, we need you now
To save humanity
So we can see
That little girl in eternity.
She was just a little girl.
Maybe two, maybe three.
She lived in the greatest land-
Home of the free.
