The Dublin Public Library officially kicked off its Tails and Tales Summer Reading Program when it started handing out reading logs on May 14
Readers can pick up a log at the library and record the books they are reading. Logs can be turned in between July 1 and July 31 by 2 p.m. for free books and a chance to win prizes.
Every chapter book equals a prize ticket and every 10 picture books equal one prize ticket.
Prizes include a hand operated drone, a wired gaming keyboard and mouse combo, a giant tortilla blanket, a ‘Baby Yoda’ Bop-It, a Crayola light up drawing tablet and more!
The program will also once again feature take and make craft kits that will be available every Tuesday. Each week will have a different craft for preschool, school age children, and teens/ adults.
Subjects for the packets are as follows:
■ June 1- Owl About Books
■ June 8- Animal Tales
■ June 15- Ocean Animals
■ June 29- Aussie Animals
■ July 6- Animal Cells
■ July 13- Bug Club
There will also be two in-person presentations at the end of July. Elizabeth Kahura will present an African Safari Program on Thursday July 22 at 4 p.m. and the Creature Teacher will visit the library Thursday July 29 at 3:30 p.m.
