Members of the Bosque River Chapter of Daughters of the Republic of Texas attended the District 2 Workshop held in Waxahachie on August 6. National DRT President General Kim Zapalac welcomed attendees and showed pictures of the nearly completed new headquarters building in Austin, Texas. The grand opening is scheduled for November. It is exciting to see this long-term dream come to fruition. Break out sessions were held to train new chapter officers and a group session was conducted to learn about the new website. After lunch everyone enjoyed hearing Waxahachie’s Cowboy Poet Laureate, David Smith, recite original poems. Pictured left to right are Bosque River member Marilyn Robie, chapter member and District 2 Representative Judith D’Amico, Chapter Registrar Carol Dismukes, (not pictured: Chapter Vice President Rita Cook). District 2 encompasses 11 chapters located from Wichita Falls to Brownwood.
