Comanche County Crops CEU Program to Focus on Corn

This year’s Crop Program will focus on one of the major crops in the county and area- corn for silage. This crop program is packed with excellent information and lots of CEU’s. The program will be held Thursday, February 26th at the Comanche Community Center. Registration will begin at 8:30 AM and the program will run from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. We will be offering 5 total CEU’s: 2 L&R’s and 3 IPM, in addition to an Auxin Training for those that might need it. There is a required $50.00 fee and lunch will be provided.

Here is the line-up for this program: Auxin Training- Dr. Scott Nolte Corn Scouting Fundamentals- IPM agent Tyler Mays Corn Ear Diseases and Nematodes- Dr. Thomas Isakeit, Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Plant Pathologist Weed Management in Corn and Sorghum- Dr. Rinnie Schnell, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, Crop Scientist TDA Laws and Regulations- Jason Jones, TDA This will be valuable training for both private and commercial applicators. All the speakers are excellent, and the presentations will be awe-inspiring for all participants. Private Applicator Training

If you have been thinking about getting your applicator license so that you can utilize restricted use pesticides, do not forget the upcoming Private Applicator training. The Comanche County AgriLife Extension office will be hosting a Private Applicator Training on Thursday, January 22nd, from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM in the Extension Office. We are limiting the training to 12 head, so be sure to call (325)-356-2539 to RSVP for a spot. This training is only for folks that need to get a private applicator license to use restricted use herbicides on their property. You are required to purchase the training manual for $50.00, and the training will cost $15.00. There will be no CEU’s offered for this training.
