Dairy Outreach and Nutrient Management Program
To support the dairy industry in the county, the Comanche, Erath, and Hamilton County Dairy Committees and Texas AgriLife Extension Offices will be hosting a DOPA and Nutrient Management Program at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research Station located in Stephenville on Tuesday August 6th. We feel we have some excellent speakers covering topics of vital importance to producers in the area. The program will be offered in morning and afternoon sessions.
Registration for the morning session will be at 9:30 a.m. and the program will run from 10 a.m. until Noon. The morning session topics will include Riley Hillard from the Comanche Electric Cooperative covering “ Feasibility and Economics of Solar Panels on Central Texas Dairies” and Scott Nolte, Extension Specialist discussing “Manure to Compost, Weed Control Residuals.”
Following lunch, the second session will begin back at 1 p.m. with Dr. Zong Liu, Extension Specialist covering “Digesters, Mortality Management, and Climate Smart Program Enrollment.” Then we will have Dr. Douphrate, Extension Specialist covering “Biosecurity.” Our last speaker of the day will be Darren Turley, Executive Director of the Texas Association of Dairymen giving us an update on all industry news and its effect on Central Texas producers.
Two DOPA continuing education credits will be offered for the morning s. on and 3 credits will be offered for the afternoon session. Lunch will be provided by our excellent dairy and agriculture sponsors. We will adjourn at approximately 4 p.m. If possible, please RSVP to your local county agent’s office.
