Community Invited to Learn About New World Screwworm at July 23 Informational Meeting in Stephenville

Ranchers, livestock owners, veterinarians, wildlife managers, and interested members of the public are invited to attend a New World Screwworm Informational Meeting on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the SISD Bond Auditorium, 2655 W. Overhill Drive, Stephenville, TX 76401. Registration will begin at 5:00 p.m.

As the livestock industry continues to monitor the threat of New World screwworm, this educational meeting will provide the latest information on the current situation, preparedness efforts, and what producers can do to protect their livestock and operations.

Topics will include: New World Screwworm situational updates Response efforts and producer preparedness Livestock movement and marketing considerations The program is designed for livestock producers, agricultural professionals, veterinarians, wildlife managers, and anyone interested in learning more about the potential impacts of New World screwworm. Participants will have the opportunity to hear from subject matter experts and ask questions regarding response plans and best management practices.

Two Texas Department of Agriculture Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be available for eligible attendees.

The meeting is hosted through a collaborative effort by the Erath County AgriLife Extension Office, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Texas Farm Bureau, Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, Erath County, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and the Texas Animal Health Commission.
