Texans win Shootout
Led by a flawless offensive afternoon by Josh Hawley, Tarleton outlasted William Jewell in an offensive showcase in the Texans’ final game of the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic Sunday afternoon.
The Texans won, 92-81.
Hawley, who led all scorers with 22 points on 8-8 shooting from the floor, 2-2 shooting from beyond the arc, and 4-4 at the free throw line, got the afternoon started with a three-pointer to get the Texans on the board in the opening minute.
The game stayed tight with the Cardinals holding a slim lead over the first seven minutes until Ritchie Mitchell started a go-ahead run with 13:03 left in the opening half.
Mitchell tied the game at 15-15 with a layup that was the beginning of a 7-0 surge to put the Texans up 20-15 over the next minute.
