Dublin Lions Head Basketball coach Wes Grisham praised the poise of his boys during the 78-43 home loss to Comanche Friday, Feb. 2.

The Lions faced a fierce fight from the first play but kept within an arm’s reach of the competition through the first half.

“We had a slow start to the 1st quarter and then some great moments which got us to a 12 point game at halftime, outscoring Comanche in the 2nd quarter,” said Grisham.

Grisham observed that Comanche started playing more physical in the second half, forcing the home team into turnovers and keeping Dublin from scoring in the paint.

“I’m proud of our guys for playing like Dublin and not trash talking or being unprofessional,” said Grisham. “I think our guys are going to work even harder this summer for next year’s match up with them.”

Although the Lions will play their final home game Friday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m., senior walked the court alongside family members for Senior Night prior to the Comanche game Feb. 2.

Alex Teten led in scoring with 18 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals.

Aiden Salyer followed with 7 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 charges.

Aidan Hernandez had 6 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist and a steal.

Kyson Gilman had 7 points and a rebound.

Francisco Garcia scored 3 points, 3 rebounds and a steal.

Jacob Arnal had 2 points. This followed a very physical 77-33 loss to Breckenridge Jan. 30. Grisham said it was already difficult against the aggressive adversary but it got harder when several players got in trouble with fouls and were sent to the bench.

Teten and Hernandez led scoring with 11 points each.

Gilman scored 7 points. Kaden Gaitan and Salyer had 4 each.
