The Dublin Lions are looking for a W Friday, Sept. 19 as they travel to Bowie for a 7 p.m. kick-off. This follows a 52-0 loss to Anson at home Friday, Sept. 12.
Bowie sells tickets online so those looking to attend the varsity game (or the Sept. 18 jr. high games at 5 p.m.) will need to purchase their tickets at https:// events. hometownticketing. com/ boxoffice/ bowieisd/ Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students.
Dublin athletic director/ head football coach Greg Hardcastle reported Bowie has a strong quarterback who tends to rush so the Lions will be looking for ins to stop him in the backfield before he can advance or pass the ball.
The young Lions are continuing to work on fundamentals this week including shoring up errors which hurt the team on the field Friday night.
“The kids really came out aggressive,” said Hardcastle in praise of the team’s tenacity. Ruben Bustillos led the home team in tackles with 6 while Hunter Splawn contributed 5 tackles, a sack and two interceptions. Caden Vanbebber also brought down 4 while Joe Salinas and Julian Caldera brought down 3 each.
The Lions will return home next week for homecoming and all fans are encouraged to come out for the community pep rally Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. on Cervetto Field. Homecoming festivities will be before the 7 p.m. kick off that evening.
Dublin Lion Kyler Gaitan snakes the ball around Anson defense in the home game Friday, Sept. 12 while teammate Ron Bahena blocks.
