Dublin Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Bob Cervetto expressed his pride in his players as the Lions’ season ended Friday night.

“Wins and losses were definitely not what we wanted,” he admitted, pointing to complications with players entering quarantine and the long break that started in March and kept kids from practice and conditioning.

“We had a great bunch of seniors playing,” Cervetto said. “They put their footprint on this program.” He also said that the necessity of fielding JV players under the Friday night lights bodes well for the future of the program as the young players got experience they would not have had otherwise.

The season ended in a 65-19 loss to Eastland in which Christian Ramirez (with 124 yards of receiving), Cooper Hubble (with 43 receiving yards) and Dalan Raspberry (with 41 receiving yards each ran the ball in for touchdowns.

Chris Teten passed for 243 yards, bringing his season total to 1,952. Ramirez amassed 836 receiving yards during the season and Kyler Madruga managed 462 rushing yards.

Cervetto said the school and field will be busy in the coming months as Dublin is hosting playoff games this week and the upcoming district track meet as other seasons start for Dublin.
