Lady Lions get fresh start

Dublin won its District opener against Bangs on Tuesday, 44-39.

“We took the lead early and kept the lead the whole game,” coach Britney Helton said. “The girls have really come together and are having fun. This group has accepted their roles and supports each other like a family. It’s a blessing being a part of this family.”

Jordyn Ricks led in scoring with 14 points. 

Hannah Ortega added 12 points. 

Addison Stout scored 5 and Camry Porter and Amy Rodriguez each added 4 points. 

Brooklynn Johnson scored 3 points, and K.K. Smith added 2 points. 

Zephyr Tournament
Dublin’s girls’ team went 2-2 in Zephyr, and Jordyn Ricks won tournament MVP.

They defeated Temple Holy Trinity, 60-9. 
Porter led in scoring with 12 points. Rodriguez added 8 points, and Ricks, Smith and Stout added 7 points each. 
Smith led in rebounds with 10.
Ortega made five steals. 
The team held out against San Angelo Cornerstone, winning 26-25. 
Ortega led in points with 9 and steals with 5. 
Johnson made six rebounds. 

The Lady Lions fell to Blanket, 46-36. 
Ricks, Ortega and Addison Stout scored 8 points each. 
Ortega and Stout each grabbed seven rebounds. 
Ricks made five steals. 

The girls fell narrowly to the tournament host, Zephyr, 35-32. 
Ortega scored 9 points. 
Rodriguez made 6 rebounds.

The JV team beat Bangs, as well 37-21.
