The Dublin Lady Lions fought through obstacles as they took on Eastland and Early last week.

This included facing a bigger bench in Eastland as one of their players returned.

“[Eastland’s] Number 1 stayed hot most of the game,” said head Lady Lions coach Kim Perez. “She hasn’t been playing the past few weeks so we were the ‘lucky’ ones to get to have her back.”

This resulted in an energetic first half as Dublin was slow to score.

The home team stayed in the fight though with Haden Keilers scoring 8. Adriana Stewart and NavaLee White had 7, Adriana Rosalez had 5, Olivia Salyer had 2, and Ingrid Hernandez with 1.

Final score was 67-30 in Eastland’s favor.

The Lady Lions faced Early Saturday, Jan.11 as predicted bad weather prompted a reschedule of the Friday games.

Perez said the Lady Lions had a rough first quarter, only scoring 1 to their 15. This lead got cut down to 13 points in third when the Lady Lions got energized.

“White fouled out and she was doing amazing on defense,” said Perez. “That hurt us. We couldn’t catch a groove again.”

Salyer led Dublin scoring with 13. Emma Vargas had 8. White, Rosalez and Stewart had 2 each. Brittany Everett and Keilers had 1 each.
