The Lingleville Lady Cardinals volleyball team maintained its state ranking of 19 as of Monday, Nov. 4 while they readied to play Zephyr in the Area playoffs this weekend. They will play Saturday, Nov. 9 at 2:30 p.m. at Stephenville High School. Tickets can only be purchased with cards (no cash accepted) and they are $4 for adults and $2 for students.

The Lady Cards ended their regular season with a three-set triumph over Ranger at home with the visitor managing 21, 11 and 21 in each set before Lingleville scored 25. This was their 14th consecutive win.

The game was preceded by senior night festivities with the team’s seniors joined by family members on the court as they were presented with gifts of appreciation.

“When you have a team with six seniors, at a small school like ours, it’s hard not to be distracted and overwhelmed with the emotions of playing your final home game,” said head Lingleville volleyball coach Brandon Haught. “Yes, we struggled at times in this game but I think we really were enjoying being able to take our home court a final time. I have nothing but amazing things to say about our seniors, Kenleigh Jones, Luz Lopez, Emma Hudson, Cambri Coburn, Madison Howle and Maira Hernandez. It was great for them to have their moment that night. They have accomplished so much as players and students at Lingleville and they deserved that recognition.”

Stat leaders for the game were Emma Hudson with 7 aces, Madison Howle with 6 kills, Dylan Gibson with 15 assists, Kenleigh Jones with 4 digs.

Haught also applauded the Lingleville fans including fellow students and parent. “It has been great to see our following grow over the last two months through this winning streak,” he said. I’ve been seeing more first time attendees each week and the gym has been getting louder and louder!”

“We will be playing Zephyr in the Area Round of the playoffs this weekend,” he confirmed. “Our winning streak is irrelevant at this point, records don’t matter, it’s either win or go home. Our students believe in this team, our community believes in them but most importantly they believe in each other!”
