‘Health on Campus’ offered to DISD students

Body

Comanche County Medical Center/ Dublin Family Medicine is excited to partner with Dublin ISD to offer “Health on Campus” a convenient telehealth initiative where students and staff can receive a telehealth visit when they are ill at school! This initiative will be accessible from any of the campuses within the district.

These “Health on Campus” visits will use software that is HIPAA compliant and the secure virtual platform has a feature that will allow the provider to add the parent/ guardian to the call so that a 3-way call between the provider (at the clinic), school nurse & student (at the school), and students parent/ guardian (work/ home) will be accomplished. We are excited about this new technology and how it will impact our ability to make this happen! The clinic will supply the school nurses with testing like flu, strep, and urinalysis to help the providers have the most information possible for diagnosing and treating during the visit.

If this sounds like something that you might find beneficial in the event your student should need it, look for some paperwork coming from the school, fill it out, and return it to the school so everything is in place ahead of time.

Most commercial insurance plans as well as Texas Medicaid Managed plans approve telehealth services just like this! Some do require copays just as if it were an in-person visit at the clinic.

Patrick Street Pharmacy has also agreed to deliver medications to the home of the student if that ends up being necessary or desired by the family.

As always, these offerings are completely optional, but we are looking forward to this partnership to serve the community through this exciting new initiative! We know people are sometimes turning to telehealth for convenience and we hope that this is a solution to get that convenience while still supporting our local medical community!
