Dublin Lions faced their first district loss Friday when they fell to the Millsap Bulldogs 44-41, but the Dublin boys still have a shot to be the District champs if they beat Eastland at home Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Despite the loss, Lions Head Football Coach Greg Hardcastle is proud of his team for bouncing back in the fourth quarter as Millsap led Dublin by 24 early in the second half.
“I’m really proud of the way our kids fought back,” he asserted.
“Millsap got after us and probably had the best game they’ve played in several weeks,” said Hardcastle. “They didn’t turn the ball over. One of the best things about us this season has been our ability to turn over the ball.”
Dublin’s fight in the game was aided by Chris Teten who had 363 yards in passing and rushed in a touchdown; Dalan Rasberry who brough in 2 TD’s in his 121 yards of receiving; Cooper Hubble who completed a 2 point convervsion and had 2 TD’s in 117 yards of receiving; Landon Burch who brought in a touchdown in 48 yards of receiving; and Christian Ramirez who was 3 for 4 in PAT kicks.
Hardcastle said he is preparing his boys for a fight Friday as Eastland’s 4-5 season record doesn’t communicate the team’s skills since they faced tough opposition in the preseason schedule.
“We want to send these senior players off with a win in their last home game,” said Hardcastle.
Friday night is senior night for the Lions with seniors due to walk the field with their parents at 6:25 p.m. before the game.
