Dublin High School is sending two Lady Lion powerlifters to state competition in Frisco on March 14 after they advanced through the Regional competition at Dublin Saturday, March 2.

Mariana Ortiz took gold in the 220 class with a total lift of 1,000 pounds (390 in squat, 270 in bench and 340 in dead lift).

Cassidy Adair took second in the 198 with a total of 850 (325 in squat, 205 in bench and 320 in dead lift).

The girls took 5th as a team at the regional meet thanks in part to the following high places: Samantha Martinez, 4th in the 97 with a total of 345 (135 in squat, 65 in bench and 145 in dead lift) Karyna Lopez, 4th in the 181 with a total of 795 (310 in squat, 215 in bench and 270 in dead lift) Jada Tamez, 5th in the 97 with a total of 315 (135 in squat, 45 in bench and 135 in dead lift) Lucero Marquez, 5th in the 132 with at total of 600 (225 in squat, 135 in bench and 240 in dead lift) Andrea Rosalez, 5th in the 181 with a total of 750 (290 in squat, 170 in bench and 290 in dead lift) Also competing for Dublin at Regionals were: Jennifer Garcia, Sandra Vazquez, Jaylie Williams, Emily Garcia, Candy Rodriguez and Frida Villicana.
