Gary Jim Wilson passed away October 24, 2021 at his home. He is free of pain and will now walk the streets of gold. Gary was born December 5, 1941 in Dublin,TX to Jim Woodrow and Sibyl Ann Wilson. He grew up a simple country boy who was raised by his Aunt Eunice and Uncle John after the death of his parents.

Gary and his childhood friend “Sonny” Alvin Reeves grew up together in the Dublin - DeLeon area. They loved each other as brothers. Gary loved sharing stories of his childhood memories of the fun and mischief they created together. Gary graduated from Dublin High School in 1960.

He was on the football team and always had a tale to tell about the fighting Dublin Lions. He was affectionately called “Smiley” by his teammates. Gary was an entrepreneur and owned Wilson Construction.

He was the proud father of three children and enjoyed participating in the showing of their livestock at the Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio Stock Shows. Gary was a generous man

Gary was a generous man who loved helping his community serving as a volunteer DeLeon fireman, always popping popcorn at the Peach and Melon Festival and being a Secret Santa to families during the holiday season. He was known as Papa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a great grandson.

Gary is survived by his children Jim Wilson, Julie Harlin and Ricky Wilson and their spouses, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, his wife of 26 years Mary Ann Wilson and her family and his precious fur baby Tiny.

Arrangements are being made under the direction of Harrell Funeral Home of Dublin.
