Stella Schuelke Barrington died on April 22, 2019.
She was born March 24, 1925, in Rural Hays County, Texas, to Walter Earl Schuelke and Ella Emma Braune Schuelke. She married William Earl Barrington Aug. 29, 1947. He preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 2018.
Stella is survived by three children, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and severalstep-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
The great- and great-great-grandchildren include Scott, Sarah, Darci and Audrey Dykowski of Dublin.
Stella worked at TEC, Railroad Commission Austin ISD at Baker Middle School and volunteered for her children’s classrooms.
She enjoyed visiting and would sit in the yard with her neighbors for hours.
Stella helped to raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was ready in a pinch when needed. They all loved her dearly and enjoyed the time they had to spend with her.
The last year-and-a-half she was active in Stoney Brook Assisted Living in Belton, Texas.
As a youngster she played and fought with her siblings, Walter “Sonny” Schuelke, Leonard Schuelke, Hilmer “Puddin” Schuelke, Leroy “Sam” Schuelke and Gladys Griffin. Having a large family meant a lot of gatherings on the holidays at Pa and Granny’s and playing with a lot of cousins. Stella always kept everyone in tow ... best she could.
Stella was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and will be missed.
Service will be at McCurdy Funeral Home today, April 25, 2019, with a visitation at 1 p.m. and a funeral service at 2 p.m. She will be laid to rest next to her husband of 71 years in the Lockhart City Cemetery.
