The Linglville ISD School Board recognized athletes’ success and extended the contract of superintendent DeeCee McDougal by a year during the regular meeting Thursday,Dec. 14.

The contract extension was announced following the superintendent evaluation and closed executive session at the end of the meeting.

In recognitions, Cross Country Coach Michelle Hatcher introduced the accomplishments of Bailyn Vann, noting that the student got 14th place at state as a freshman.

Volleyball Coach Tamera Richline introduced several members of the team who were undefeated in district as well as assistants and staff. “We had a really great season and I’m really proud of them,” the coach said, adding that the team had several seniors who she’ll miss.

The board also unanimously adopted a policy regarding facilities use and accompanying fees. It was noted that a policy with a schedule was set up in 2015 but fees were never accepted.

Board members expressed some frustration, saying that they had announced the cafeteria would be available for community use and now fees were being set. It was announced the fees are about paying school staff to handle the kitchen equipment if they’re needed in events as a piece of equipment was improperly used.

Board member Larry Griffin suggested the inclusion of a line that says the school board or superintendent could waive fees at their discretion, which was accepted by board members in attendance. The policy was unanimously accepted with Monty Williams and Jay Procter absent.

During regular reports it was announced that a hot water line leak was discovered under the boys bathroom and would be fixed during the Christmas break. Principal Brian Sanders announced that enrollment stood at 276 with a 96.35 % attendance rate.
