House fire displaces 7

Body

A family of seven have been displaced after a structure fire occurred over the weekend in Dublin.

On Saturday, Oct. 28, a fire occurred at 2:16 p.m. at 620 E. Myrtle Street. Dublin VFD, Dublin EMS and Dublin Police Department responded to the mobile home fire.

The department was able to keep the fire from spreading but significant damage occurred to the home and all belongings were a complete loss because of smoke and water damage.

According to Dublin Police Chief Cameron Ray who assisted in the investigation of the fire, the fire has been ruled accidental and there was a candle in the room where the fire started.

Flor and Daniel Sandoval, reside in the home with their five kids: Daniel 8th grade, Dain 5th grade, Dana 4th grade and Dax, kindergarten and Dai, 3. The family is in the process of collecting new belongings. Friends and family members are also helping raise money to help rebuild the home since the home was not insured. The family is currently living with their landlord.

No humans were injured in the fire though the family did lose one cat and another feline was treated for smoke inhalation by Dublin EMS. The family’s dogs were uninjured in the fire.

“Donations can be made at 620 E. Myrtle Street in Dublin. They will be needing furniture, appliances, beds and mattresses,” family friend Dalinda Aguilar said. Aguilar is also helping out by taking calls for the family since there is a language barrier. Any questions can be directed to 254-979-1797.

Donations are still needed for the mom and dad and Daniel and Dana as donations have been received for the other three kids.

Needs include: undergarments, socks, towels, hygiene products, shampoos and lotion.

The following sizes have been provided: mom medium shirt, pants size 8 and shoes size 7; Dad - large shirt, 34/34 pants and shoes size 12; Dana - size 14 shirt and pants, shoes size 7-1/2 and Daniel, adult mediumpants 30/31 and shoes 8 ½.

There is also an online auction being held to raise funds to aid the family. The auction can be seen on Facebook on Dalinda Aguilar’s page.

“The Sandoval family wants to thank everyone from close friends to strangers that have came together to help them so much,” Aguilar said. “The love and prayers are felt. They may have lost many things but they have gained triple the blessings! They are ready to rebuild this house and make a new beginning. Her family has had a very emotional weekend and are ready to start an amazing new week, and that’s because they know that they are not alone!”
