Dublin’s Public Library is encouraging us ‘all together now’ to enjoy some summer reading as its annual Summer Reading Program kicks off next week.
The reading program is available to all ages and participants can pick up their reading logs starting Friday, May 19, which is the last day of school for Dublin ISD.
“During our summer reading program the Dublin Public Library will have events that encourage community connections,” Library Director Adina Dunn said. “The goals of our Summer Reading Program are: to encourage children and families to read for pleasure, to help children maintain and improve their reading skills, to encourage them to become lifelong readers, and to establish reading as a foundation for academic success.”
On Saturday, May 20 the summer reading program will kick off with a Kindness Carnival in a partnership with the STAR council. The event, which is free and open to everyone, will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, and feature carnival games, prizes and community organizations to promote resources and summer activities.
In conjunction, there will be a job fair hosted by the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. Workforce Solutions of North Central Texas will be there to help youth sign up for the summer Earn and Learn program. They are going to bring their mobile unit with 13 computer stations.
Throughout the summer there are many in-person activities for eager readers.

- Dinosaur Valley at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 1

Those who are interested in camps associated with the library have a few options to consider.
Star Council will be offering a Sprinkle Kindness/ Bosque Safari Camp at the Dublin Public Library from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 21-22. The camp is open from kids Kindergarten-2nd grade.
There will also be a music and art camp from July 11-14.
The music camp will be held in the mornings and is open to kids ages 5-10 and the art camp is in the afternoon for kids ages 8 and up.
There will be limited signups so those interested need to text the library at 254-938-8177.
For those who turn in a reading log, a variety of prizes are available and kids will receive access to the free book fair where they will be able to choose three free books and three free reading incentives. The book fair and time to turn in reading logs will be from July 1-22.
Readers will be entered into drawings for Texas Ranger tickets, a Nintendo Switch, Apple Air Pods, a karaoke microphone, a light up frisbee and more.
