Easter events hop into town

Easter is Sunday, April 9, bringing special significance to many in the area. Although all local churches will have their regular Sunday services on Easter Sunday, several local organizations and churches have scheduled special Easter events and services for the Dublin community.

These include: The Faces of Easter will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday, April 7 at Cottonwood Baptist Church, located at 273 County Road 528 in Dublin. The program is a high-quality dramatic presentation of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Easter Eggstravaganza at the Dublin City Park on Saturday, April 8 from 10 a.m. to noon. More than 13,000 eggs will be onsite for discovery in three different age groups from birth to sixth grade. Calvary Fellowship will be serving up free hot dogs while Brookshire Brothers will provide water. Popcorn and cotton candy will also be served at the event. Dublin’s Dandi-Lions will offer free face painting. All hunts will begin at 11 a.m. There will be special prize eggs for each age division and coloring contest sheets can be turned in on site. There will also be a live auction during the event featuring baked goods and other items.

Bread of a Servant, An Easter Drama is being staged Saturday, April 8 at 7 p.m. at Highland Missionary Baptist Church (12616 FM 2156). This play invites guests to experience the apostle John’s testimony as told from his imprisonment on the isle of Patmos. His memories of the life, events and miracles of Jesus Christ are acted out as he narrates the Easter story.

A joint Easter Sunday Sunrise Service will be hosted by Calvary Fellowship Dublin and First Assembly Church for the Lost and Found at Dublin City Park from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

First Methodist Church will have several services for Holy Week: Maundy Thursday on Thursday, April 6 at 6:30 p.m. with communion, Good Friday on Friday, April 7 at 6 p.m., Easter Sunrise Service in the atrium at 7:30 a.m. with a breakfast to follow. The church will also host its regular service at 11 a.m.

Double N Cowboy Church will have a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 7. On Easter Sunday, they will host a breakfast at 9 a.m. followed by the 10 a.m. service and an egg hunt to follow.

Trinity Episcopal Church will be hosting its Good Friday service at 4 p.m. Friday, April 7. Easter Sunday services will be held at 9 a.m. with refreshments afterwards.

At First Baptist Church, Sunday school will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by Easter service at 10:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday.
