The Erath County Extension Agency has announced program for Spring:

Spring Dairy DOPA Program will be held April 4. 2023 at the Texas AgriLife Extension Center, 1229 N US Highway 281, Stephenville Texas. The DOPA program is hosted by Erath, Comanche, and Hamilton, Texas AgriLife Extension Service. Registration will begin at 9:30. The Program will be from 10:00am - 4:00pm. The morning program will include Air, Water, and Private Property Cases Impacting Livestock Producers, Kyle Weldon – Associate Attorney at James Bradberry, PLLC, Mortality Management for Central Texas Dairies – Zong Liu, Assistant Professor & Extension Specialist TAMU AgriLife, Update on Biochar Research Findings, Dr, Jennifer Spencer-Assistant Professor & Research Dairy Specialist, TAMU Agrilife. The afternoon session will cover Introduction and Application: Competitiveness of Small and Medium Sized Dairy Operations in Central Texas, Dr. Edward Osei-Pi and Dr. Ashley Lovell- CO-PI Professors, Tarleton State University. Texas Climate Smart- Manure Management and Financial Assistance Programs, Dr. Zong Liu- Assistant & Extension Specialist, TAMU AgriLife, Trucking and Manure Hauling Laws, Scott Rountree, State Trooper, Texas Department of Public Safety.

Cross Timbers Land Management Symposium The Cross Timbers Land Management Symposium consisting of Erath, Hood, Comanche, Eastland, Palo Pinto, Hamilton and Somervell Counties will be hosting an Understanding Rangeland Pastures for all area landowners. The program will be held April 28, 2023, at the Texas AgriLife Research Center, 1229 N. US HWY 281, Stephenville. Registration will begin at 8:30 with program starting at 9:00 am and ending at 2:00 a.m.

Program speakers will include Dr. Bill Fox, Director Center for Natural Resource Information Technology & Extension Range Specialist, James Jackson – Brush & Broadleaf Management, Alligare, Reseeding – Turner Seed, John Tate, Retired NRCS, Wildlife Habitat Update / NRCS Programs, Hunter Hamilton – USDA – NRCS Resource Team Leader, Ag Exemption & Laws, Erath County Appraisal District – Travis Eberhardt, Disaster Land Management, Payton Morris, DAR Agent Texas AgriLife.

We will be offering two CEU’s for pesticide applicator license holders, one integrated pesticide management. (IPM) and one general.
