Dubliner and Texas Association of Dairymen President Darren Turley was honored March 14 at the Texas Agricultural Cooperative Council annual meeting in San Antonio for the time he has devoted in order to “foster and promote the development of the agricultural cooperative endeavor.”
Turley was presented with the 2022 Tommy Engelke Distinguished Service Award “in recognition of his meritorious and exceptional accomplishments in the field of cooperative endeavor.” The award was renamed this year for Engelke, who is retiring after 41 years with TACC.
Turley, pictured with daughter, Madison and wife, Deanna, said ”I think a lot of Tommy, I’m very pleased to the first to get the award with his name on it.”
Turley, who has been with TAD for 14 years, said TACC has helped facilitate legislation efforts and meetings to help serve agricultural interests as part of their regular work. He reports he has been pleasantly surprised with how many people have helped him at the capital in this cause and Engelke has been one of the strongest.
