Daughters of the Republic of Texas

Body

The Bosque River Chapter of Daughters of the Republic of Texas celebrated Texas History Month by meeting in DeLeon and sharing lunch at the Blue Moon 1881 Restaurant.

After lunch members toured the Antique Car Museum then the DeLeon Area Historical Museum.

During a brief business meeting members were encouraged to attend the grand opening of the Republic of Texas History Center in Austin on March 25.

This is the culmination of 14 years of work to buy the land on historic Robertson Hill, raise the funds and deal with construction. The annual national convention will be held in Galveston on May 4-6 and members were also encouraged to register for that.

March is Texas History Month because of the momentous events that took place in 1836 starting with the signing of the Republic of Texas Declaration of Independence on March 2, 1836 then the fall of the Alamo on March 6, 1836 and Goliad Heroes Day on March 27.
