Calvary Fellowship Church (604 N. Patrick) is hosting a silent auction this Saturday (March 18) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to benefit the church in much-needed renovations.
The auction is being held for murals mounted on the outside and inside of the church’s building, which were painted and installed when the location was a pharmacy.
The exterior mural will be bid out in three sections, divided by theme (the Colborn family and the Dublin rodeo; Dr. Pate’s legacy and the pharmacy; and Ben Hogan). Each of these sections is painted on boards which will be removed and presented to the winner.
Bids will also be taken for the two large interior murals painted on canvas. They depict the old Dublin High School and rock gym.
Organizers state that all of the unique art is still in excellent shape.
“They’re such a beautiful work of art,” said organizer Brenda Smith. “It’s just not for our church. We’re just trying to renovate the church to look like a church.”
Those interested can view the art and bid at the church Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or place bids in a booth at the City Park during the St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
Winners will be notified after 4 p.m. and those signing up can elect to be called if they are outbid during bidding.
