GRANBURY
SLOW. Water stained; 48-54 degrees; 8.41 feet below pool. Fishing is slow for all species. Bass are slow on crankbaits, jigs and Alabama rigs. Crappie are slow on minnows. White bass are slow on jigs. Catfish are fair on cut shad drifting or jug lines.
FAIR. Water lightly stained; 55 degrees; 2.34 feet below pool. Granbury water temperatures took a nose dive into the upper 40s after the recent cold snap. Despite the cold weather, the fishing has been great. Big blue and yellow catfish from 10-40 pounds are being taken. Yellow catfish are good on live perch and blues are good on cut bait. Striped bass to 12 pounds are good midlake on live shad and jigs fished near baitfish concentrations. Crappie continue to be good on small jigs and minnow near deeper structure on many areas of the lake. Large sand bass are being caught from Hunter Park to Bentwater in deeper water close to the channel. Largemouth bass are good near deeper docks and structure on soft plastics worked real slow. Some good largemouth are being caught in the river near Tin Top on those warmer days.
POSSUM KINGDOM
GOOD. Water lightly stained; 48 degrees; 5.99 feet below pool. Striper bass are good in 22-35 feet of water with the best bite on live shad, but some can be caught deadsticking. Sand bass are fair using small shad and small jigs in 18-25 feet of water. Catfish are good using cut shad fished shallow in 2-10 feet of water. Water clarity is 3-8 feet depending on location.
PROCTOR
SLOW. Water stained; 55 degrees; 9.29 feet below pool. Catfish are biting great in 15-18 feet of water on shad cut or whole. Lots of bait to be found near the bank almost anywhere on the lake. Seeing larger fish in the shallows but not getting many good bites in less than 7 feet.
WEATHERFORD
SLOW. Water stained; 49 degrees; 7.65 feet below pool. Fishing continues to be slow for all species. Crappie are slow at the Crappie House on jigs and live minnows. Catfish are slow off rocks near the dam with cut bait and stink bait. White bass are slow on slabs. Bass are fair on rocks in shallow water using crankbaits and spinnerbaits.
WHITNEY
GREAT. Water lightly stained; 54 degrees; 6.81 feet below pool. Whitney fishing for striped bass continues to be good to excellent on jigs and live shad fished from Cedron Creek to the river near Plowman Creek. Look for the birds. Largemouth bass are good near the bluffs and in the river near deeper holes with structure. Sand bass catches are being reported in the river near Kimball Bend to Hamm’s creek.
