In these days almost every sort of invitation comes to us over the telephone. A few years ago it would have been regarded as in bad form to ask friends to dinner in this way and a hostess would not have invited her friends to a card party over the telephone, but now in most sets and in most localities this sort of thing is permitted.

However, there are objections to the telephone invitationatanytime.Thereis always the chance that it will not be correctly understood and little misunderstandings have been known to result from the misunderstood telephone invitation.

Feb. 13, 1948

The Dublin City Council passed an order for a $245,000 water and sewer improvement revenue bond election to be held Saturday, March 20. This order was passed after discussions and study of over a year’s duration.

75 years ago

Feb. 8, 1973

The Dublin Girls Varsity Basketball team won the District title here Tuesday night against Glen Rode 6353.

Captains were Beth Pope, Jo Spurger and Debbie Harbin.

First quarter Dublin leading by only one point, 16-15. In the second quarter still leading the Tigers by one point 30-29.

At the end of the third quarter the score was 48-39 in Dublin’s favor. Fourth quarter – winning 63-53. District Champs for the DHS girls.
