CTFAC hosting Opera House exhibit

The Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council is hosting a exhibit on the Crown Opera House from now until Jan. 31.

The gallery is open at 148 W. College Street in Stephenville.

 

Genealogical Society meeting Jan. 21

Basic Preservation Tips and Resources for Family Archives will be the subject of guest speaker Phyllis Kinnison of Tarleton State University’s Dick Smith Library.

Guests are always welcome to join in on activities and events of the Erath County Genealogical Society. Please join them at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Dublin Public Library when Kinnison will discuss basic preservation procedures for paper and photographic materials commonly found in family historical records.

She will also talk about online resources which detail preservation procedures for various formats such as rare books, photograph albums, scrapbooks, audio-visual materials, digitized materials, etc.

A short business meeting will precede the program. Contact ecgs.dpl@gmail. com to attend via Zoom. This program will not be recorded. A handout will be provided to Zoom and In Person attendees.

 

Bluff Dale Garden Club Chili Cook-off

The Bluff Dale Study & Garden Club will be hosting a scholarship fundraising chili cook-off at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Bluff Dale Community Center (Fire Hall).

Registration is 4:30-5 p.m. and the cost is $10 per pot.

Judging starts at 5 p.m. with awards for first, second and third and a people’s choice award.

Any kind of chili is allowed other than anything with nuts or seafood. Chili must be cooked at home and brought in a crock pot with a serving spoon.

The event is open to the general public with donations.

 

Stephenville hosts Daddy daughter dance

A Daddy Daughter Disco, an annual event hosted at the Recreation Hall, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9. The event includes a catered dinner, photo booth and dancing.

Tickets are $10 per parent/guardian and $8 per daughter. Limited tickets are available through Stephenville Parks and Rec. - Have a brief? Send them to composing@ dublincitizen. com
