If you’ve seen a plethora of scarecrows in the community it’s all thanks to those supporting the Dublin Public Library’s Scarecrow fundraiser and contest.
More than 15 individuals and businesses entered the event to provide support to the library and to have fun embracing the spirit of fall.
Three awards will be presented including People’s Choice, Best Business and Best individual. The winners will be named through the library’s facebook page on Halloween.
Those wishing to vote in the people’s choice award can stop by the library and vote for $1. All proceeds go to help the library in a variety of programs.
Individuals who entered include: Sue Wiess, the Winborn Family (415 Eagle Street), Brandi Bethea (650 West Clinton Street), the Tidwell Family (Norton Street) and Orion Gallagher (505 N. Patrick).
Businesses in the scarecrow contest include: Dublin Insurance Agency inside at 119 S. Patrick St., The Dublin Citizen (938 N Patrick St.), Texas Bank – Dublin branch (301 N. Patrick St.), First National Bank (825 N. Patrick St.), Wicked Clover/ Danielle Meador (111 S. Patrick St.), Trinity Anglican Church (459 N. Patrick St.), Veterinarians Outlet (975 N. Patrick St.), Things Celtic (115 E. Blackjack Street), CWJC Thrift (106 N. Patrick Street) and inside the public library (206 W. Blackjack Street).
Residents are encouraged to drive around and take a scarecrow tour before the season changes.
