Cross Timbers Family Services offers a myriad of services and help from victim assistance for those suffering from violent crimes to aiding those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault.
They are supported in a variety of ways, including the Cross Timbers Classic Golf Tournament 2022, at Squaw Valley Golf Club which was held July 1.
The second annual golf tournament boasted 20 teams battling the Texas heat to donate to a great cause: direct assistance to victims of violent crimes.
“We had a ton of returning sponsors,” Cross Timbers Executive Director Laura Gambino said. “We’ve grown the tournament and are very happy with this year’s results.”
There were many prizes presented included a $10,000 cash prize for any golfer who made a hole-in-one.
“We didn’t have a winner, but we are appreciative of Daffan Cooling and Heating Stephenville and all of our sponsors for supporting a great cause,” she said.
Hole sponsors included Bill and Kim Leaverton, The Mighty 93 - KSTV, Brink Veterinary Service, Quality Printing, Prime Metal Buildings & Components, McLemore Financial Group, Borges Media, Bruner Motors Chevrolet Buick GMC, Lone Star Ag Credit, Accelhealth, King Title Company, The Knights of Columbus, Greybeard LLC, and Ebby Halliday: Stephenville. Beverage cart sponsors included Stream Realty and Borges Media.
Gold Sponsor Lone Star Ag Credit sponsored a cornhole tournament to bring in additional revenue, Gambino said. Texas Health Resources once again sponsored breakfast.
Within the 20 teams, many locals got involved including teams from Tarleton and Ranger College.
The tournament’s winning team was Roy McCleary from Poolville with a team from Parker County Appraisal District.
Second place team was made up from players from First Financial Bank – Stephenville.
Third place team was comprised of incoming County Judge Brandon Huckabee and his friends.
All together, the tournament raised $15,000 and all of it goes to direct victim assistance from those in Erath County who may be recovering from violent crimes.
“It gives us the flexibility to help them get back on their feet with food, emergency housing, transportation and day-to-day living,” she said.
Cross Timbers Family Services is gearing up for domestic violence awareness month in October while continuing to spread awareness in area communities.
“We just want to make sure the community knows about us and how to get assistance when they need it,” Gambino said.
For those in need of help, trained volunteers are available for 24/7 hotline assistance at (866) 934-4357 and advocate resources are also available for victims in need of help.
