The Dublin ISD School Board elected officers and canvassed the May 7 election during its regular meeting Monday night.
Bob Cervetto, Pat Leatherwood and Anjelica Salyer were given their oath of office following the canvassing.
Afterwards, board president Kent Crouch nominated Cervetto to his position. Salyer nominated Raymond Salinas as vice president, and Salinas nominated Salyer to stay as secretary. All nominations were accepted and unanimously passed by those present. (James Moore was absent.)
The Board also passed a resolution recognizing seniors Sehrsha Glover and Veronica Rodriguez for earning Associate’s Degrees while completing their high school career.
Superintendent Melissa Summers also reported on community service hours earned by Dublin High School students in the 2021- 2022 school year, noting that freshmen students amassed 31 hours, sophomore students contributed 151, junior students volunteered 354 and seniors had 2,367 hours.
Dublin ISD Business Manager Kassi Eads also reported that the budget was looking better than projected thanks in part to larger than expected state funds. She also advised that the Lion Cub Learning Academy was receiving large grants for operations after once again being certified as a four-star Rising Star facility by the state for providing more fundamental instruction and preparation for preschoolers than most preschools.
The Board also unanimously approved a 2021-2022 budget amendment to allocate grant funds for the purchase of milk in the cafeteria and added board policy AFI as a result of the District of Innovation renewal.
Summers also sought board opinion after being approached by a proposed $300 million solar farm project towards Alexander seeking a 313 agreement (tax abatement in exchange for the property tax dollars that would result from the project). Board members reported they weren’t interested, hearing concerns from the community about the disposal of material after the contract and their effects on the land.
